How to swap secured assets
Step-by-step guide to swapping tokens within your Lockbox securely
Swapping secured assets allows you to exchange one token for another directly within your lockbox. This process uses Uniswap V3 for pricing and liquidity.
The swap process includes security steps including 2FA verification and transaction signing to protect your assets during the exchange.
Navigate to the Lockbox portfolio

Access your portfolio page and locate the lockbox containing the assets you wish to swap.
Click the swap assets CTA

In the lockbox details view, click the "Swap assets" button located in the upper left under the header.
Select the amount to swap

Enter the amount of tokens you want to swap from your secured assets, with real-time price updates.
Choose the token to receive

Select which token you want to receive in exchange, choosing from available options including stablecoins, ETH, and other supported tokens.
Select destination

Choose where you want the swapped tokens to go. You have three options:
- Swap to Lockbox: Keep tokens secured in the lockbox
- Swap to my wallet: Send tokens directly to your connected wallet
- Swap and transfer to another address: Send tokens to a different address

Begin swap execution flow

The secure swap execution process begins with wallet verification and multi-step security checks.
Recreate 2FA secret and verify 2FA code

Enter your 6-digit authentication code from your mobile authenticator app to verify the swap operation.
Recreate signing key and authorize swap request

The system recreates your signing key and prepares the authorization request with EIP-712 typed data for signing.
Approve swap on main wallet

Complete the final approval step by signing the transaction with your main wallet.
Important note
If you chose to keep your tokens in the lockbox, the recipient address is set to the zero address (0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000). This is to prevent accidental asset burning and address-based attacks.
Receive swap
Swap success!
Your assets have been successfully swapped in Lockbox #2. You can manage your Lockbox in your Portfolio.
The swap modal displays success confirmation with transaction details and next steps.

Your swapped assets are now available in your lockbox or destination wallet as configured, with updated balances reflected in your portfolio.
Important security considerations
Slippage protection
All swaps include 2% slippage tolerance to protect against unfavorable price movements during execution.
The system uses Uniswap V3 for optimal liquidity and pricing, with automatic pool fee selection for the best rates.
Security verification
Multiple security layers including wallet verification, 2FA authentication, and cryptographic signing ensure that only authorized users can execute swaps on secured assets.
EIP-712 signing
All swap transactions use EIP-712 structured data signing, which provides transparency by displaying readable transaction details directly in your wallet before signing.
Always verify the transaction data shown in your wallet interface before approving any signature request. This ensures you understand exactly what operation you're authorizing and prevents malicious transactions.
